Latest Import & Export Analysis of Chinese Hair Preparations (HS: 33053000)

Issuing time:2025-09-19 Author: Back to list

Hair preparations (HS 33053000) mainly cover cationic, silicone or polyurethane-type finishing agents used for textile, leather and paper-pulp after-treatments. Supplied as liquids or pastes, their demand moves in step with downstream industry growth.

China’s latest customs figures show that in 2024:

Exports of HS 33053000 reached USD 60.9 million, up 12.85% year-on-year, with volume at 12,900 t (+26.92%).

Imports totalled USD 15.1 million (+9.29%) on 830 t (+8.64%).

For January-July 2025, both flows exceeded the 2024 level. Imports peaked in March: volume surged 53.63% and value rose 60.12% versus March 2024.

Market-wise, China’s exports of hair preparations (HS 33053000) are concentrated in North America and Asia. North America accounts for 60.27% of export value, with the United States alone taking 59.51%. Within Asia, Korea is the largest destination (4.21% of value, up 43.57% year-on-year), while the Netherlands leads Europe with a 108.25% surge versus 2024. Imports come mainly from Japan and Germany, which together supply 57.59% of import volume, chiefly high-end functional finishing agents.

The United States’ tariff policy is the pivotal variable: any new levy would push up export costs, erode price competitiveness and potentially hit two-thirds of shipments. The sharp data swings already mirror market nervousness over trade policy; heavy dependence leaves negotiators in a relatively passive position.

Firms should therefore accelerate market diversification—stabilizing promising markets while actively cultivating new ones (Korea, Japan, Australia, ASEAN, the Middle East). At the same time, they must closely track U.S. policy signals, build agile risk-warning systems, and internally absorb part of any future tariff increase to preserve overall competitiveness.

Overall, China’s HS 33053000 exports are rising steadily alongside Southeast Asia’s expanding textile capacity, with environmental upgrades lifting average prices. Imports remain dominated by high-end German and Japanese products. Global demand for functional after-treatments is forecast to grow 6–7% annually over the next five years; China, leveraging eco-friendly, formaldehyde-free and silicone technologies, is well placed to enlarge its overseas share.

As China's first data company, Guomaotong provides import and export customs data for over 90 countries from 2010 to present. It can accurately analyze market distribution and transaction details of import and export enterprises online, and analyze transaction volumes, prices, and supply cycles. It offers reliable data for foreign trade enterprises and industry consulting firms.
