Latest Import and Export Analysis of Electric Heating Blankets (HS Code: 63011000) in China

Issuing time:2024-09-27 Author:Alisa Back to list

Electric heating blankets, equipped with built-in electric heating elements, are designed to provide additional warmth in beds, particularly popular during cold seasons or in chilly regions. In recent years, China, as a major global producer and exporter of electric heating blankets, has witnessed robust growth in its export market for these products.

This comprehensive analysis delves into China's export performance of electric heating blankets from January 2018 to July 2024. By examining changes in export volumes and values, we aim to understand market trends, growth drivers, as well as the potential challenges and opportunities. It further illuminates China's dynamic position in the global marketplace for electric heating blankets.

Customs data reveals a conspicuous growth trend in both the quantity and value of China's electric heating blanket exports from 2018 to 2023. Specifically, export revenues reached $474 million and $520 million in 2022 and 2023 respectively, marking year-over-year increases of 19.33% and 9.84%. The total export volume surged to 28.308 million and 34.065 million units in the same years, witnessing annual growth rates of 6.13% and 20.34%.

Of note, however, exports for the period up until July 2024 indicate a downturn, with export revenue totaling $1.564 billion, a decline of 9.27% compared to the previous year, and a total export quantity of 10.9103 million units, a marginal decrease of 1.08% year-on-year. This shift is undoubtedly influenced by a constellation of factors including international policies, market demand, and seasonal variations. Notably, the energy crisis in Europe in 2022 was a pivotal factor propelling a surge in demand for electric heating blankets exported from China.

Amid soaring gas prices and tightening supplies, many European households have turned to electric blankets as an alternative heating solution, leading to a surge in demand for Chinese electric heating blankets. Exports have notably escalated from regions such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Guangzhou, highlighting a pressing need for emergency heating devices in these markets. Nevertheless, following years of robust growth, this short-term fluctuation necessitates closer scrutiny to discern the underlying causes, given its deviation from previous trends.

Customs data indicates that China's electric blanket exports are primarily destined for countries including the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada, Chile, Italy, and South Korea. The U.S., the UK, and Japan stand out as the principal markets for Chinese electric blankets, with the U.S. being particularly significant. From 2022 to July 2024, exports to the U.S. accounted for 49.45%, 46.41%, and 53.06% of the total export volume respectively, evidencing the high level of dependency of the American market on Chinese electric blankets.

Furthermore, technological innovation and quality enhancements within China's electric blanket industry have also been instrumental in driving export growth. With a diversified product range, improved energy efficiency, and the integration of smart features, Chinese electric blankets have significantly bolstered their competitiveness in international markets, catering to diverse consumer needs across various markets. However, the industry confronts challenges such as fluctuations in the international trade environment, rising raw material costs, and instability in global supply chains.

In summary, China's electric blanket exports have experienced remarkable growth over the past few years, especially amidst the backdrop of global energy crises, which unleashed substantial demand. The data volatility observed in 2024 underscores the importance for industry players to attentively monitor market dynamics, adapt strategies flexibly to address emerging challenges, and thereby sustain and expand China's share in the global electric blanket export market.
