Boom times! Overseas visitors shout “What a bargain!”
As the transit-visa-free policy keeps getting better, a new scene has appeared on Huaqiang Bei—the famed “No. 1 Electronics Street” in Shenzhen. More and more foreign tourists now drag suitcases here specially to shop. “Good price—so worth it!” has become their catch-cry.
On any day on Huaqiang Bei you’ll see faces from every continent pulling empty cases or shopping bags.
1、“I bought my son a toy car and some tech gifts for the family.”
2、“Phones for my business, backpacks for the kids, a curling wand for my wife, Bluetooth earphones as gifts, and I still want a 3-D rotating display for my shop.”
3、“Smart massager, smart glasses—you can listen to music, take photos and video with them.”
After so much buying, an Iranian couple couldn’t carry it all and simply bought another suitcase on the spot. Merchants say they sell 10-20 cases a day to shoppers who either start with an empty bag or grab one when their arms give out.
Since October 2025 monthly foot-traffic in Huaqiang Bei has topped 100,000; after every Canton Fair the share of foreign visitors climbs further. An average of more than 7,000 overseas guests stream in daily. They marvel at the gadgets—and love to haggle. “Good price!” is heard everywhere.
1、“Prices are much better than in Europe.”
2、“Unbelievable value!”
Language is no barrier—translation apps and AI translation glasses are in almost every hand. Within half a day bags are bulging. The district reports that in the first half of 2025 alone, “Huaqiang Bei-made” AI glasses sold 270 % more overseas, a snapshot of China-smart tech reaching the world.
After a day of “treasure-hunting” the top-four hot list is clear:
1、AI glasses that “see and understand the world”
2、Drones that “fly beyond vision”
3、Translators that “connect without borders”
4、Pocket cameras that “capture life on the go”
They paint a picture of an innovative, efficient and tech-savvy China.
