China's Frosted Ribbonfish (HS:03038910)—2025 Export Analysis

Issuing time:2025-06-20 Author:Alisa Back to list

Ribbonfish, mainly found in China's four major sea areas (the Yellow Sea, East China Sea, South China Sea, etc.), are frozen during no - fishing periods (May - August), making frozen products the market mainstay. As ribbonfish symbolize "surplus through generations," they're a staple of New Year's Eve feasts. Due to easy winter storage, the period before the Spring Festival sees the peak sales of frosted ribbonfish.

Classified as aquatic products, China's frosted ribbonfish exports reached $4.705 million by late April this year, a year - on - year drop of 47.49%. Export volume was 840 tons, down 29.93% year - on - year. Exports show marked monthly fluctuations, with January seeing the highest export volumes and values, likely due to seasonal demand. In January this year, compared to January 2024, export volume fell by 71.01%, and export value dropped by 80.94%.

From January to April this year, the frosted ribbonfish market can be divided into three price tiers. High - end ribbonfish, mainly from Fujian, Shandong, and Jiangsu, have an average market price above $6.5 per kilogram. Mid - range options, from Zhejiang, Guangdong, and Liaoning, range from $4 to $5.5 per kilogram. Hubei's ribbonfish have an average price below $4 per kilogram. These price differences reflect both product quality and diverse market positioning.

China's frosted ribbonfish are mainly exported to Asian regions like Chinese Taipei, the Republic of Korea, and Singapore, accounting for 74.31% of total exports. The Americas and Europe follow, with countries like Canada, the United States, Italy, and France making up 19.75% of total exports.

China's frosted ribbonfish trade is moving towards refined processing. For instance, China's high - value - added fish fillet exports to Russia surged by 150%. Key features of China's frosted ribbonfish trade include: expanding import sources to BRICS, Latin American, and ASEAN countries; focusing exports on neighboring Asian countries while increasing exports to the Americas and Europe; having coastal provinces lead in export volume and inland areas focus on high - value - added processing; and boosting efficiency through policy support and innovative customs clearance.

In the future, the upgrade of the China - ASEAN Free Trade Area, BRICS supply chain integration, and domestic processing technology upgrades will continuously impact the trade structure. Also, the sales of frosted ribbonfish will benefit from upgraded cold chain logistics and optimized freezing technology, especially when no - fishing periods coincide with festivals, enhancing market resilience.
