2025 Latest Export Analysis of China's Cooling Ointment (HS: 30049054)

Issuing time:2025-05-30 Author:Alisa Back to list

Cooling ointment, also known as wanjinyou or "universal balm," is a topical medication made from menthol, camphor, cinnamon oil, eucalyptus oil, and paraffin wax. When applied to areas affected by insect bites, skin irritation, or minor burns, it promotes blood circulation, reduces swelling, alleviates pain, and relieves itching. Additionally, applying it to acupressure points like the Yintang (between eyebrows) and Taiyang (temples) can ease symptoms of colds and headaches with its cooling effect.

As lifestyles accelerate and work pressures intensify, demand for fatigue relief and mental rejuvenation has surged. Cooling ointment has become an essential daily item for consumers worldwide due to its distinctive aroma and instant soothing properties.

According to customs data, China’s cooling ointment exports (HS: 30046054) from January to April 2025 reached $8.98 million, marking a 28.99% year-on-year increase, with export volume totaling 1,032 metric tons (up 6.87%). Both volume and value peaked in February 2025, with growth rates of 29.77% and 96.55%, respectively. Despite the overall upward trend, April saw a 12.59% decline in export volume compared to April 2024.

Following the U.S., the UAE, Belgium, and Saudi Arabia rank as key secondary markets, accounting for 10.1%, 8.16%, and 4.84% of total export value, respectively.

Regional Market Dynamics

Africa:

High popularity in Nigeria, Tanzania, and Cameroon due to the region’s intense heat. The ointment’s heat-dissipating and itch-relieving properties align with local needs.

Asia:

Strong consumer recognition in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia for product quality and efficacy.

Economic and Social Impact

Industry Growth: Exports generate substantial foreign exchange revenue while boosting upstream sectors:
