Brazilian President Lula Meets with Wang Yi
On April 30th local time, Brazilian President Lula met with Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Brasilia.
Lula said that China's firm and effective countermeasures against "equivalent tariffs" are admirable. China's just actions have received widespread support, and the irresponsible unilateral actions of individual countries should be jointly resisted. The Pakistani side is willing to work with the Chinese side to promote greater success of the BRICS mechanism, gather multilateral forces, advocate free trade, defend international rules, and never allow power to override international justice.
The political decision made by the President to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Brazil is fully in line with the long-term and fundamental interests of the Brazilian people. China is willing to work with Pakistan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Pakistan to achieve more new results.
Wang Yi stated that China's resolute countermeasures against unilateral bullying are not only to safeguard its own legitimate rights and interests, but also to protect the common interests of developing countries and uphold international fairness and justice. China will strengthen cooperation with BRICS and countries in the global South, adhere to multilateralism, uphold international rules, sow new hope for the world, and bring new opportunities for peace.
During his attendance at the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting and BRICS Security Representative Meeting in Brazil, Wang Yi also met with Brazilian President's Chief Special Advisor Amorim and Foreign Minister Vieira respectively. (Reporters Chen Weihua and Wang Tiancong)
