In 2024, China's light industry experienced rapid production growth, with both domestic and foreign trade markets expanding steadily. The industrial structure continued to optimize and upgrade, effectively supporting the stable growth of the industrial economy.

The latest data from the China National Light Industry Council shows that in 2024, large-scale light industry enterprises achieved a revenue of 23 trillion yuan, up by 2.0% year-on-year. Profits reached 1.5 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%. Among the 91 major light industry products tracked by the National Bureau of Statistics, 55 products saw an increase in output. Notably, thanks to policies such as the trade-in of old consumer goods for new ones, the production of household washing machines and refrigerators grew rapidly.

With the implementation and effectiveness of a series of policies aimed at expanding domestic demand and promoting consumption, the vitality of the light industry market gradually increased. In 2024, the retail sales of 11 categories of light industry products amounted to nearly 8 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.0%. Among them, household appliances and audio-visual equipment maintained a high-speed growth trend for four consecutive months.

In addition, over the past year, the export scale of light industry products continued to expand, with the industry's export value growing by 3.6% year-on-year. Among the 21 major industry categories, 13 industries saw an increase in export value, maintaining the resilience of foreign trade exports.
