China Retreaded Tires (HS: 40121) Latest Import and Export Analysis Summary

Issuing time:2024-01-19 Author:Alisa Back to list

Retreaded tires are a process of reprocessing used tires to extend their lifespan and improve performance. Its origins can be traced back to the early 20th century. With the popularity of automobiles, there was a rapid increase in the demand for tires, and the production and disposal methods for tires were relatively primitive. This led to the accumulation of a large number of used tires, posing environmental problems.

In order to address this issue, people began exploring methods to reuse and refurbish used tires. With the advancement of technology, retreading tire techniques have been continuously improved. New processes and equipment have made tire retreading more precise and reliable. In recent years, with the rapid development of China's automotive industry, the tire industry has also entered a period of rapid growth, making China a major global player in tire production and consumption. Alongside the mass production of tires, there has also been a significant increase in the generation of used tires.

According to customs data, there is an overall upward trend in 2023 compared to 2022. As of November, the cumulative export value of retreaded tires reached $12,316,100, showing a growth of 54.6% during the same period, marking a new high in the total export value of retreaded tires in nearly five years.

Retreaded tires are generally considered a cost-effective option, with lower costs, especially in some developing countries and regions. According to data, in 2023, China's main export markets for retreaded tires are concentrated in Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Côte d'Ivoire, Luxembourg, and the United States. From the data, it can be observed that the overall market in the top ten purchasing countries in 2023 is on an upward trend. Particularly, markets like Côte d'Ivoire, Luxembourg, Iran, etc., although not having very large export values, showed relatively high growth in 2023.

Although China's tire retreading industry has significant gaps compared to developed countries in terms of technology, equipment, quality, and output value, the potential of China's tire retreading industry has not been fully tapped, and there is still considerable room for development.

The process of retreading tires involves rubber supply, tire manufacturing, retreading factories, and the final automotive maintenance and retail sectors. Throughout the entire process, environmental protection and sustainability have become key considerations, as retreaded tires contribute to reducing the disposal of used tires and environmental impact. Retreading tires not only allows for the reuse of old tires, saving resources, but also plays a positive role in promoting comprehensive resource conservation, driving the transition of economic growth patterns, and supporting sustainable development. In terms of its prospects, tire retreading, like the tire industry, is an indispensable sector in the automotive and transportation industry. Moreover, it holds significant importance in environmental protection, especially in today's global focus on "environmental protection." The status and significance of the tire retreading industry are increasingly receiving attention from people.

The market is subject to changes influenced by environmental protection and international trade policies, and opportunities arise accordingly. It is essential to closely monitor changes in the target market, stay informed about foreign trade information, and collaborate with local governments and trade organizations to ensure the smooth conduct of international trade.
