China's Aspartame (HS: 29242930) Latest Foreign Trade Export Analysis

Issuing time:2023-09-15 Author:Alisa Back to list

Aspartame is a commonly used artificial sweetener, typically employed in food and beverages to provide sweetness without calories. It is widely utilized in the manufacturing of various food and beverage products, including sugar-free or low-sugar drinks, chewing gum, candies, yogurt, ice cream, canned fruits, frozen desserts, and more. It is globally recognized as a safe food additive. China is one of the major producers of aspartame worldwide, holding a significant share in the global market.

According to customs data, the export quantity and export value of aspartame from China remained relatively stable between 2018 and 2020. However, there was a significant increase in both export quantity and export value in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, both the export quantity and export value saw substantial growth, with year-on-year growth rates of 24.85% and 54.55%, respectively. As the global pandemic stabilized, the demand for sweeteners such as aspartame in the food and beverage industry increased, thus driving the growth in exports.

The year-on-year growth rates in 2019 and 2021 were also relatively high, at 7.47% and 12.14%, respectively, indicating an increase in market demand. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the food and beverage industry faced challenges such as supply chain disruptions, production difficulties, and market instability. These factors may have been the primary reasons for the decline in export growth rates during that year.

China's aspartame export market is extensive, primarily targeting countries such as the United States, Brazil, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Argentina, Ireland, Colombia, Chile, and Turkey, covering various regions in Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. This diversity helps mitigate market risks, as China can balance exports between different markets. However, it's worth noting that in the international market, Chinese aspartame products also face competition from other producing countries such as the United States, European Union nations, and Japan. These countries are major producers and exporters of aspartame as well.

Please be aware that the import and export of aspartame can be influenced by changes in international trade policies, food safety standards, market demand, and global developments in the aspartame industry. For more detailed and up-to-date information, it is advisable to consult online sources or experts in the field.
