On September 14th local time, the Bulgarian Parliament agreed to lift the import ban on Ukrainian grains starting from September 15th. Therefore, Bulgaria will take a stance against extending the embargo within the European Union.
Bulgarian Finance Minister Assen Vassilev stated in Parliament that the European Union first imposed sanctions on Ukrainian products in May, and subsequently extended the embargo, leading to an increase in prices in Bulgaria.
The European Union's restrictions on certain Ukrainian agricultural products are set to expire on September 15th. Prior to this, Hungarian Minister of Agriculture Nagy István announced on September 13th through social media that Hungary had reached an agreement with Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. If the EU does not extend the embargo after September 15th, these four countries will also ban the import of Ukrainian grains.
